3 Types of Airsoft Guns
Airsoft guns are replica/toy weapons that shoot 6 or 8mm plastic BBs using air pressure. They are enjoyed by collectors, firearm enthusiasts, and hobbyists alike. Airsoft gun types are divided into 3 main groups, each based on how the weapon is powered. These include gas-powered, electric, and spring powered.
Gas-powered airsoft guns use the compressing and expanding properties of gases to propel a BB out of the barrel. They can be powered by CO2 or Green Gas and are available in both non-blowback (NBB) pistols and gas blowback rifles.
Unlike electric guns, gas-powered guns need a constant supply of gas to continue firing. While this can be a disadvantage, it can also help you save money on gas.
Another advantage of gas-powered airsoft guns is their ability to simulate the recoil of real firearms. This makes them much more realistic than electric guns, which only have blowback features.
Electric airsoft guns, also known as AEGs or automatic electric guns, are battery-powered airsoft guns that work just like spring-powered airsoft guns. The difference is that an electric motor, which is connected to the rechargeable battery, pulls back the spring instead of you having to manually cock it.
Gas-powered airsoft guns, or “GBBs,” use compressed gas to propel the BB out of the gun. They’re the most common type of airsoft gun.
Gas airsoft guns offer a more realistic recoil than other airsoft guns. In addition, they can be more enjoyable to use because they give you a kick-back feeling when shooting them. But they don’t have the same firepower as other airsoft guns and need to be reloaded more frequently. So they’re not the best option for long-term use.
High-pressure air (HPA) guns
HPA (High Pressure Air) guns are a great choice for people who want more power and control over their gun. They’re also quieter than electric and gas-powered guns.
HPA airsoft guns use a pneumatic system with an externally supplied high pressure air tank that feeds the pressurised air into the gun via a line and regulator. These tanks are similar to those used for paintball markers.
They’re often more expensive than other airsoft guns, but they’re a lot easier to set up and maintain. They’re also safer than gas or electric powered guns, as they don’t rely on pistons or motors to function.
Revolvers are repeating pistols that use a multichambered revolving cylinder behind one barrel. These cylinders are either manually cocked or have a connection bar that allows the trigger to rotate the cylinder, cock the hammer, and complete the firing in one motion.
The revolving cylinder is often rifled, or inscribed with grooves that impart a stabilizing spin to the bullets as they exit the weapon. Barrel and sight groups are also important to the accuracy of revolvers, as they provide a means for shooters to aim at targets.
Revolvers come in a variety of designs and are used for many different purposes. For example, they are popular with law enforcement agents. They are less likely to jam or misfire, and they can be loaded much more quickly than semi-automatic weapons.
Pistols are small, handgun-style guns that can be held with one or both hands. They are most often used by law enforcement and military personnel, but they can also be used for hunting.
Most pistols shoot plastic pellets at velocities of 30 m/s (98 ft/s) for low-end spring guns, up to 200 m/s (660 ft/s) for heavily customized sniper rifles. These velocities vary depending on the gun’s internal components.
Some pistols are hammer-fired, while others use a firing pin or striker. Hunting and target pistols are generally single-action, while defensive and military handguns have a double-action trigger for the first shot and a single-action trigger for subsequent shots.
